Altay S.K.

Altay Izmir is a football club, currently in the third Turkish professional league TFF2. Lig plays. The official name of the club is Altay Gençlik ve Spor Kulubü (German Altay youth and sports club ). The home games are played in Alsancak Stadı in İzmir. The club was a founding member of the highest Turkish league and played a total of 41 seasons in the Süper Lig in the Eternal table of the Süper Lig club is located on the 8th Place. With this placement of the club before the city rivals Göztepe Izmir, Karşıyaka SK, Izmirspor, Altınordu Izmir and Bucaspor is with a clear difference between the most successful club of the city Izmir, who was active in the highest Turkish league.

History

The first football league in Turkey were held between the Greek, Armenian, English and Italian minorities from the year 1898. Only in 1905, the football enthusiasm rubbed on the Turkish youth Izmir. However, since any merger of young Turkish men had been forbidden by the Sultan Abdulhamid II at that time, there was in İzmir as well as in other cities of the Ottoman Empire no official club ups. Only with the abolition of the Assembly ban in 1908 sports and especially football was taught and encouraged mergers in the schools. During these years, the activities of the Young Turk movement were in full swing. Therefore, the former member of the major Young Turk Party Committee of Union and Progress came ( Ittihat ve Terakki Cemiyeti ), Celal Bayar, the end of 1913 to Izmir, to inspire the Turkish athletes for the Young Turk idea. Then he financed which took place on January 16, 1914 official creation of the Altay sports club.
