Geography

Altbach is situated in 245-450 meters altitude between Plochingen and Esslingen in the Neckar valley on the southern slope of the virgin forest.

The district is rich source so the community can meet 45% of its drinking water demand from their own wells.

History

Finds of series cemeteries and early recorded mention suggest an early medieval foundation of the settlement. Altbach was first mentioned in 783 in the Lorsch Codex. In the 13th century ( Alpbach ), the counts of Aichelberglifte bought the place, but sold it piecemeal to the monastery Adelberg. With the Reformation (1535 ), the country's domination came to Württemberg, Altbach remained part of the monastery Office Adelberg.

From 1806 Altbach belonged in the Kingdom of Württemberg to Oberamt Eßlingen.

1819 Altbach from neighboring cell, now a district of Esslingen was separated and there since then as an independent municipality. In 1846, Altbach received a train station, making conditions for industrialization were created.

The coat of arms was originally led by the local nobility of Altbach. The flag colors are white and red. Coat of arms and flag colors were the municipality in 1954 awarded by the state government.

Traffic

Altbach is connected to the B 10 (Stuttgart -Ulm ) and rail transport with the Filstalbahn (Stuttgart -Ulm ), S -Bahn line S1 in the Transport and Tariff Association Stuttgart included ( VVS).

On 19 December 2006, the world's first people mover, train tracks was crossed, in Altbach taken into operation.

Altbach has a primary and secondary school with Werkrealschule, four kindergartens and a local library.

Power plant Altbach / Deizisau

The power plant Altbach / Deizisau is operated by EnBW and is considered one of Germany's most modern coal-fired power plants. Community hall

Old Town Hall

The Old Town Hall was originally a hunting lodge in the former deer park of Hohengehren. The hunting lodge was purchased, dismantled and rebuilt as the city hall in the same year 1839 by Altbach.

Christ Church
