Altenahr (Verbandsgemeinde)

The community association Altenahr is an administrative unit in the form of a local authority in the district of Ahrweiler, in Rhineland- Palatinate. It covers the central part of the county. The municipality includes twelve independent local churches, the council is based in the eponymous municipality Altenahr.

History

The municipality was created in 1968 as part of Rhineland-Palatinate municipal reform from the former Office Altenahr, which had existed since 1936. To an increase in the association's territory came in 1974, when the previously belonging to the municipality rings municipality Kalenborn moved to the municipality Altenahr. More area changes within the community association were made by voluntary incorporations of Obliers and Plittersdorf to Lind, Liers by Hönningen and Season after Kesseling.
