Altenberg Trio

The Altenberg Trio is a piano trio from Vienna.

Named after the Austrian writer Peter Altenberg Trio was founded in 1994 on the initiative of longtime pianist Claus- Christian Schuster and is one of the few full-time piano trios. The members are since autumn 2012 Christopher background Huber (piano), Amiram Ganz ( violin) and Christoph Stradner (cello ).

History

In 1984, Schuster with the violinist Boris Kushnir and cellist Martin Hornstein the Vienna Schubert Trio. After the 1993 resolution were made cobbler formed the trio with the violinist Amiram Ganz and Hornstein, 2004, the cellist Alexander Gebert succeeded.

Since his "official" debut during the Salzburg Mozart Week, the Altenberg Trio Wien has earned a reputation as one of the bravest and most consistent ensembles in this category in 1000 performances.

His repertoire includes works from the immediately adjacent areas piano quartet, piano, and vocal chamber music Triple Concerto more than 200 piano trios, including many works that has inspired and premiered the Altenberg Trio itself, among others, Friedrich Cerha and Werner Pirchner.

Since its inception, the ensemble Trio. Residence in the Society of Friends of Music in Vienna, for it each year designed a series of concerts in the Brahms -Saal of the Vienna Musikverein

The Altenberg Trio conducts a regular seminar course for chamber music at the Vienna Conservatory and offers monthly master classes for young ensembles at the Accademia di Musica di Pinerolo (Piedmont ) on.

In 1999, the Altenberg Trio the Robert Schumann Prize of the City of Zwickau. The CD Piano Trios from America with works by Charles Ives, Aaron Copland and Leonard Bernstein won an Edison Award in 2000 in Amsterdam.
