Geography
The municipality is located in the nature reserve Thuringian Slate Mountains / Upper Saale above the Hohenwarte Reservoir. The Rundling village located to the left of the High Dam waiting on a plateau of the East Thuringian Slate Mountains at the southern end of the high position to Drognitz. The land possess the good soil fertility characteristics of the terrain of the Massif. On the hills around the vertical surface is forest, which continues on the slopes of the Saale. Accessible is the place on the L 2366 and L 1100.
History
The village was mentioned for the first time on 16 March 1120 butynes documented.
The place has three inns for tourists care. The High Leite is the most beautiful vantage point since time immemorial. Across the hall is the famous dam Linkenmühle.
For a long time, there is already the camping and recreational facility Droschkau the Thuringian Sea. The farmers cultivate the land and also entertain tourists for a long time.

Mayoress
Mayor 's Konstanze Marten (independent). She joined the succession of her husband Klaus - Dieter Marten, who in 2009 was mayor of mountain people since the mayoral election. In the transition period, the community was led by interim basis Lothar Linke ( CDU).
