Altensalzwedel is a district of the patch Apenburg Winter field in the Altmark Salzwedel in Saxony- Anhalt, Germany.

Geography

It is located about 9 km south of Salzwedel at the Purnitz, a tributary of the Jeetze. The federal highways 248 and 71 run west and east past the place.

History

Until June 30, 2009 Altensalzwedel was a separate municipality to which the districts Hagen ( incorporated on 1 July 1950) and Saalfeld ( incorporated on 1 January 1974) belonged.

Through a field amending treaty adopted on 23 September 2008, the municipal councils of the municipalities spots Apenburg, Altensalzwedel and winter field that their communities dissolved and merged into a new community with the name Apenburg winter field. The new municipality is entitled to continue the designation spots. This agreement was approved by the county as a lower municipal supervisory authority and entered into force on 1 July 2009.

Monuments

  • Memorial stone of 1985 before the primary school at the village road 56 for the Communist Reichstag deputies Artur Becker, who came as a volunteer fighter for the Spanish Republic in 1938 lost their lives.
  • Grave in the cemetery of the local part of a Hagen died in the Second World War, Russian forced laborers.
