Altered Images

Altered Images was a Scottish Pop-/New wave band, which was founded in March 1979 in Glasgow, and in 1984 disbanded.

Band History

Together with Clare Grogan (vocals) and Gerard, Caesar ' McNulty (guitar) founded the school friends John McElhone (guitar), Tony McDaid (bass ) and Michael Tich ' Anderson ( drums) Altered Images in March 1979. 's Name goes back to the album cover of the Buzzcocks single Promises of 1978. Grogan singer was seen already in the British films Gregory 's Girl and Comfort and Joy. In August the same year, the group gave their live debut at Glasgow Club Countdown.

First demo tapes brought bassist Steve Severin of Siouxsie and the Banshees to receive Altered Images in the preliminary program of their UK tour of 1980. Severin produced in February 1981 for Epic also released their first single Dead Pop Stars, which " just as critical as self-deprecating the short-lived fame in the pop business themed ", but was ignored by the public. The well-known British radio DJ John Peel took notice when Futurama Festival in Leeds, northern England on the band after a gig. McKinven was replaced by Steve Lironi, the band remained without a permanent drummer. Grogan continued to pursue her acting career and released solo albums, guitarist Johnny McElhone first started the band Hipsway who had been a previous chart success in the UK Top 40 and Billboard Hot 100 with the single The Honey Thief, before he, along with Sharleen Spiteri in 1986 founded the band Texas.
