History

Original owner of the village were the masters of Steußlingen. In the 14th century members of the Ruch family acquired individual courtyards. Between 1425 and 1436 Burkard of Wernau was able to acquire the most of the farms. Since Burchard son of Conrad Wernau remained childless, the inheritance fell to the younger brother of Jörg Wernau. However, this only had 4 daughters and no son. The third daughter, Clara, married Conrad of the stadium, which in 1497 fell the goods to the family of the stadium. Since Conrad stadium had no male heirs, the estate passed to the son Caspar von Freyberg, who in 1518 had married the heiress of Apollonia. At least since the death of Conrad Stadium, probably in 1527, remained the family of Freyberg in possession of most of the farms in Altheim to the replacement of feudal rule in the 19th century, each two farms were owned by monasteries and Steingädele Blaubeuren.

Religions

Altheim has since the high Middle Ages a separate parish. The parish church is dedicated to St. Michael, which indicates an early foundation in the Alemannic era. Initially, the Altheimer parish was a daughter parish of Erbacher parish. The Hofbauern the monastery Blaubeuren remained even after the Reformation, the monastery at Catholicism. 1826 were all 318 residents Catholic. By influx also Protestant inhabitants reside today.
