Altiris

Altiris was an American software house based in Lindon, Utah. It was founded in 1998 and provides software for service- oriented management of IT assets to. In 2007, Altiris was acquired by Symantec and is thus no longer exists as an independent company.

History

Altiris was founded by Jan Newman and Kevin Turpin in Lindon (Utah ) in 1998. Quickly the company expanded - with the CEO Greg Butterfield - through cooperation with Compaq and Dell. Since May 2002, Altiris has been listed on the American Nasdaq under the symbol ATRS. Already in the 2nd quarter of 2003 revenues of 22.8 million U.S. $ and a profit of $ 3.3 million and a total annual turnover of $ 99.3 million with 600 employees could be achieved. Counted multiple of the fastest growing tech companies, were further collaborations and contracts - as with IBM and Deutsche Bahn - closed. On 29 January 2007 it was announced that Symantec Altiris for U.S. $ 33 per share ( 830 million U.S. $ ) take over. The acquisition was completed on April 6, 2007 by Symantec.
