Altlengbach is a market town with 2724 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013 ) in the district of Sankt Pölten- Land in Lower Austria.

Geography

Altlengbach is in the Most district in Lower Austria. The area of ​​the municipality covers 35.58 square kilometers. 48.94 percent of the area is forested.

History

In ancient times, the area was part of the province of Noricum. Around 1150 Altlengbach was mentioned as Kirchweiler documented. In the core Austrian state of Lower Austria lying the place told the eventful history of Austria. Until the abolition of the manorial 1848 Altlengbach was the seat of its own rule. The municipality was formed in 1850. In 1980 the municipality was elevated to Altlengbach market town.
