Geography

Geographical Location

The municipality is located in the southeastern foothills of the Franconian Jura and the northern Hallertau between the Altmühltherme the north and the Danube in the south.

History

The place got its name from that of Altmann II of Abensberg after the year 1232 castle built Altmannsteinstrasse. Duke Ludwig II of Bavaria acquired in 1291 by Ulrich III. of stone 1291 the " castrum Altmannsteinstrasse " and left the seller as feudatories and administrators at the castle.

The place was in 1331 by its owner, now Emperor Ludwig of Bavaria, the market rights. 1777 to 1808, the village belonged to Lower Bavaria. Altmannsteinstrasse in 1818 in the course of administrative reform in the Kingdom of Bavaria a separate municipality. Incorporations
