Altus AVA

Altus AVA is a since 30 May 1984, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives recognized wine region in the U.S. state of Arkansas.

Location

The vineyards here are spread over the County Franklin County in the northwestern part of Arkansas, near the eponymous town of Altus. The appellation Altus is an integral part of the parent Arkansas Mountain AVA, which in turn is part of the Federal States overarching Ozark Mountain AVA.

In the south, the vineyards of Altus AVA from the Arkansas River, bounded on the north by the Boston Mountains. The very acidic soil is penetrated by loamy nature and pebbles.

Currently operate five wineries from this appellation a commercial viticulture and fill annually from nearly 3.8 million liters of wine.
