Altun (also Altun Shan, Altyntag, Altin tagh or Astin tagh called ;阿尔 金山Chinese, Pinyin  He Jin Shan) is up to 6,295 m high mountains in the west of the People 's Republic of China ( Asia).

Location

The Altun Mountains, which is the main part of the western Nanshan Mountains about 700 km long and 200 km wide, located in the southeast and east of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region and extends into the provinces of Qinghai and Gansu. South of the Altun extends the central part of the mountain Kunlun and in the west and north of the Tarim Basin and the Taklamakan desert. East of the Qilian Shan Mountains close to, the eastern part of the main Nanshan.

Mountains

Most of the Altun mountains are 3500-4000 m high. The highest mountain is located in the west of the mountain Sulamutag with 6,295 m height. The mountain Altun Shan is located in the Autonomous District Subei the Mongols in the administrative area of the city of Jiuquan, Gansu Province, and is 5,798 m the highest mountain in the middle part of the Altun; its summit was climbed on 19 August 1989 by a team of four Japanese and Chinese.
