Aluminium gallium nitride

Aluminum gallium nitride ( AlGaN ) is an alloy of aluminum nitride ( AlN) and gallium nitride ( GaN), and is one of the group III-V compound semiconductor. The alloy is used as material for the production of light emitting diodes (LEDs) of the visible blue color range to the UV-C range with wavelengths just below 250 nm, the specific wavelength is adjusted in the production process, by varying the mixing ratio of aluminum to gallium nitride.

Another application of the III-V compound semiconductor material are present as at high- electron -mobility transistors ( HMET ) as a detector for ultraviolet radiation. For the formation of heterojunctions in semiconductor technology, the alloy aluminum gallium nitride is used together with the two output semiconductors aluminum nitride and gallium nitride.
