Alvand (Persian الوند ), and Kuh-e Alvand, the name of a promontory of the Zagros in the province of Hamadan is (Iran). The largest eponymous collection is 3574 m high. The mountain passes such as the Zagros from northwest to southeast. It consists mainly of intrusive rocks, namely granite and diorite. An older name of the mountain is the Orontes.

North of the Alvand is Hamadan, south of the city Tuysarkan. Between these two cities once crossed the Alvand mountains, a portion of the ancient Persian King Street. From Hamadan There is access to 12 kilometers away from downtown, the foothills of the Alvand with two Achaemenid cuneiform tablets: Ganj Nameh. There in summer walking and mountain tours and skiing in winter.
