Alvin Baldus

Alvin James Baldus (* April 27, 1926 in Garner, Hancock County, Iowa ) is a former American politician. Between 1975 and 1981 he represented the state of Wisconsin in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Alvin Baldus attended Elkton High School in Minnesota and then 1946-1948 the Austin Junior College, also in Minnesota. Then he began to work in the investment industry and has been agricultural machinery dealers. From 1944 to 1946 Baldus was a member of the American Merchant Marine. During the Korean War he was from 1951 to 1953 soldier in the U.S. Army. Politically, Baldus joined the Democratic Party. Between 1966 and 1975 he sat as an MP in the Wisconsin State Assembly. In 1973 he was deputy leader of the Democratic deputies. From 1966 to 1987 he was a delegate to any regional party days of the Democrats in Wisconsin.

In the congressional elections of 1974 Baldus was in the third electoral district of Wisconsin in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of Vernon Wallace Thomson on January 3, 1975. After two re- election he was able to complete in Congress until January 3, 1981 three legislative periods. After his time in the U.S. House of Representatives Baldus came between 1989 and 1996 again in the State Parliament of Wisconsin back. After that, he is no longer politically have appeared. He now lives at an old age in Prescott.
