Älvkarleby

Älvkarleby is a place ( tätort ) in the Swedish province of Uppsala County and the historic province of Uppland. It is located in the municipality of the same name.

The Dalalven flows through Älvkarleby on the way to the Baltic Sea.

Stig Dagerman, a Swedish writer of the 1940s, was born here and later buried. Every year takes place the ceremony of Stig Dagermansällskap not far from his birthplace Norrgärdet. Then Älvkarleby is the meeting place known literary figures from Sweden and other European countries.
