Alvord Desert

The Alvord Desert is a desert located in the southeastern part of the U.S. state of Oregon. It is located southeast of Steens Mountain. It is located on a dry lake bed. Under the prevailing adverse conditions, both for animals and for plants to survive hardly possible. In the year it rains on average only around 180 mm. Three Mountains separate it from the Pacific Ocean. These are the Steens Mountain, the Cascade Range and the Oregon Coast Range, in the rain shadow it is located.
