Alwar State

Alwar (Hindi: अलवर, Alavar ) was one of the princely states of Rajputs in present-day Rajasthan ( British India ), named after the capital of the same name. It was founded in 1771 by Pratab Singh, the leader of the clan Naruka the Kachhawa - Rajputs. This was the son of Rao Mohabat Singh of Macheri of the dynasty of princes of Amber / Jaipur. The Mughal emperor Shah Alam in 1791 awarded him the title of Rao Raja. Mangal Singh was raised in 1889 by the British to Maharaja.

Alwar was a British protectorate 1803-1947 and in 1941 had an area of ​​8178 km ² and 860,000 inhabitants.
