Am Salzhaff

At the salt lagoon a municipality in the west of the district of Rostock in Mecklenburg- Vorpommern ( Germany ). The community is managed by the Office Neubukow - salt lagoon, located in the city Neubukow.

Geography

Namesake for the young church is the salt lagoon, an inlet of the Baltic Sea, which is separated from the open sea by the Wustrow peninsula. Slightly inland from the flat southeastern shore of Salzhaff the municipality lies on the salt lagoon. It lies on the border of the district North West Mecklenburg and is only 22 km from the independent Hanseatic city of Wismar. In the southwest of the municipal area of 1.5 km from the coast crowd mountain reaches a height of 54 m above sea level. NN.

Community structure

The municipality includes the salt lagoon at the small districts Strömkendorf, Pepelow, Rakow and Teßmannsdorf.

History

In GDR times, a children's holiday camp was operated directly on the salt lagoon in the Falk camp Pepelow.

The municipality was formed on 13 June 2004 from the formerly independent communities Pepelow and Rakow.
