The Office On Szczecin Lagoon, based in Eggesin was formed on 31 December 2004 from the former Office Ueckermuende country and the formerly independent city official Eggesin. In Office On Szczecin Lagoon 13 municipalities were merged to perform their administrative business.
The Office is located in the district of Vorpommern - Greifswald in Mecklenburg- Vorpommern and is adjacent to the Szczecin Lagoon and the Republic of Poland. In the middle of the office is not the official nationals city Ueckermuende.
The area is characterized by the Haffküste that Ueckermünder heath and associated tourism, along with agriculture and forestry play a role.
