Amadeus I, Count of Savoy

Amadeus I of Savoy (called the tail, * 1030, † 1051 ) was from 1048 to 1051, Count of Savoy.

He was the eldest son of Count Humbert I. and Anzilla of Lenzburg. He married Adelheid (also Adila or Adelegida ).

The nickname he led tail because he appeared with a large entourage.

He had three children

  • Humbert ( † before 1051 )
  • Aymon († 1060 ), Bishop of Belley
  • Thiberge ∞ 1) to 1053 Ludwig I († 1060 ), Lord of Faucigny, ∞ 2) Gérold II († 1080 ), Count of Geneva.

At his death his eldest son and heir had already died, so his younger brother Otto was succeeded as Count of Savoy.
