Amador County, California
The Amador County is a county located in the U.S. state of California. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Jackson. The County is located in the Sierra Nevada and is also known for its vineyards (→ see the protected designations of origin California Shenandoah Valley AVA, Fiddletown AVA, Sierra Foothills AVA).
History
The County was formed in 1854 from parts of Calaveras County and El Dorado County. José Maria Amador gave him the name.

According to the census of 2000, there were 35,100 people in Amador County. There were 12,759 households, and 9,071 families. The population density was 23 people per square kilometer. The racial the population was composed of 85.79 % White, 3.87 % African American, 1.78 % Native American, 1.00 % Asian, 0.10 % Pacific Islander residents from the and 5.04 % from other races groups; 2.41% were descended from two or more races. 8.91% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
Of the 12,759 households out of which 26.20% have children under the age of 18 living with them. 58.90 % were married couples living together, 8.70 % had a female householder with no husband. 28.90 % were non-families. 23.90 % of all households and 11.30% had someone living alone at the age of 65 years or older. The average household size was 2.39 and the average family size was 2.81 persons.
Based on the county the population was spread out with 20.60 % under the age of 18, 6.90 % from 18 to 24, 26.20% from 25 to 44 years, 28.30% between 45 and 64 years and 18.00% were 65 years old or older. The average age was 43 years. For every 100 females there were 122.50 males to 100 females age 18 and over, there were 123.40 males.
The median income for a household was $ 42,280, and the median income for a family was $ 51,226. Males have a median income of $ 39,697, women $ 28,850. The per capita income was $ 22,412. 9.20 % percent of the population and 6.10% of families are below the poverty line. 13.10% of those under age 18 and 5.40% were 65 years or older.
