Amakusa (Kumamoto)
Amakusa (Japanese天 草 市, -shi, literally: sky grass ) is a city in Kumamoto Prefecture on the Amakusa Islands in Japan.
History
The city was on 27 March 2006 by merging the cities Hondo (本 渡 市, -shi) and Ushibuka (牛 深 市, -shi), as well as the communities of Amakusa (天 草 町, machi ), Ariake (有 明 町, machi ), Goshoura (御所 浦 町, machi ), Itsuwa (五 和 町, machi ), Kawaura (河 浦 町, machi ), Kuratake (仓 岳 町, machi ), Shinwa (新 和 町, machi ) and Sumoto (栖 本 町, machi ) of the district Amakusa founded.
