Amalia Sartori

Amalia Sartori ( born August 2, 1947 in Valdastico ) is an Italian politician ( Popolo della Libertà, formerly Forza Italia ).

Sartori took a doctorate in philology and worked for several years as a teacher. After that she was assessor for road infrastructure and traffic in the Regional Government of Veneto, President of the International Airport of Venice and chairman of the Interregional alliance between the regions of Veneto, Emilia -Romagna and Piedmont for the management of the waterway network Po - Veneto. From 1990 to 1993 she was Vice -President of the Regional Government of Veneto from 1995 to 2000 she was President of the Regional Council.

Sartori is a member of the European Parliament since 1999. There she was 2002-2004 Vice-Chair of the Delegation to the Joint Parliamentary Committee between the EU and Bulgaria and from 2007 to 2009, Deputy Chairman of the Delegation for relations with the NATO Parliamentary Assembly. Since 26 January 2012, she is Chair of the Committee on Industry, Research and Energy. She is also in the period 2009-2014 Vice-Chair of the Delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly Euro-Latin American. She is a member of the Conference of Committee Chairs and the Delegation for relations with the countries of the Andean Community. As a deputy she is in the Committee on Employment and Social Affairs and the Delegation for relations with the United States.
