Amalie of Brandenburg

Amalie of Brandenburg ( born October 1, 1461 Plassenburg, † September 3, 1481 in Baden- Baden) was Princess of Brandenburg and by marriage Countess Palatine and Duchess of Zweibrücken and Veldenz.

Life

Amalie was the eldest daughter of the Elector of Brandenburg Albrecht Achilles (1414-1486) from his second marriage to Anna (1436-1512), daughter of the Elector Frederick of Saxony.

Even as a four-year Amalie was betrothed to the Count Palatine and Duke Kaspar von Zweibrücken (1458-1527), after her older half- sister Margaret had dissolved the engagement with him. The marriage took place ten years later, on April 19, 1478 Two bridges instead. As a jointure Amalie was next to the castle Neukastel, Bergzabern, Annweiler, the court Herxheim, assured the community Falkenburg and Hasloch.
