Amalienau

Amalienau is the name of a former part of the town of Königsberg and was limited to the west of Neuroßgarten, south of Rathshof and southwest of means hooves. The residential area to the west was famous for its idyllic beauty.

History

After the Second World War, the old Prussian villas have been used to a large extent by Soviet officials. For this reason Amalienau remained almost completely intact, unlike many other districts of Königsberg. Today, the former district Amalienau belongs to Kaliningrad Zentralrajon.

Religious buildings

  • The Queen Luise Memorial Church on the hooves Avenue was the parish church for hooves and Amalienau.
  • The St. Adalbert's Church was built in 1904.

Small Amalienau

Located northwest of the hooves (Königsberg ), Class Amalienau had a military airship port. The hall was completed in 1911 170 x 50 x 37 m in size and could accommodate two airships. She had the largest leaf in the world.
