Amanatsu

Amanatsu (Japanese甘 夏), also known as natsu mikan (甘 夏 蜜柑) and daidai mikan (橙 蜜柑), is a yellowish- orange citrus fruit. It is about the size and shape of a flattened orange.

It is commercially cultivated almost exclusively in southern Japan, especially in the Kumamoto Prefecture, where her into a variety of products, such as jam or wine is produced.

The name amanatsu, in Japanese means " Sweet Summer " and probably comes from the fact that the fruit ripens quite late. The Amanatsubaum is as hybrids of citrus grapefruit (Citrus × aurantium ) and mandarin (C. reticulata ) viewed. The scientific name of such hybrids Citrus × aurantium is, as a synonym Citrus natsudaidai Hayata is specified.
