Amanda Blake

Amanda Blake ( Beverly Louise Neill in fact, born February 20, 1929 in Buffalo, New York; † August 16, 1989 in Sacramento, California ) was an American actress.

In addition to James Arness and Ken Curtis was one of the main characters in the Western series Gunsmoke ( Gunsmoke ). She played there the saloon owner Miss Kitty Russell Kathleen. After leaving the series, she starred in the series The Love Boat, and Hart to Hart with, and later in the Gunsmoke movies.

You stood up for animal rights and has been - although heavy smoker - a spokeswoman for the American Cancer Society, after she contracted a form of oral cancer. She married five times, and last lived on a farm near Galt, California.

On August 16, 1989, she died, weakened by HIV infection, in Sacramento at the cancer.

In 1997, the Amanda Blake Memorial Wildlife Refuge in Rancho Seco Park in Herald, California opened.
