Amanda Forbis

Amanda Forbis (* 1963 in Calgary ) is a Canadian animation filmmaker.

Life

Forbis grew up in Calgary. She studied at the University of Lethbridge and until 1988 at the Emily Carr Institute of Art and Design, where she met Wendy Tilby. Forbis began working at the National Film Board of Canada as a senior animator on the film The Reluctant Deckhand. From 1995 she devoted herself with Wendy Tilby the first joint short animated film When the Day Breaks, which premiered experienced in 1999. When the Day Breaks was a great success, earned an Academy Award nomination and won the 1999 Cannes Palme d'Or for Best Short Film.

With Wendy Tilby Forbis created in the aftermath of different advertising animated films, including for United Airlines ( The Meeting, The Interview ). Following the publication of When the Day Breaks Forbis and Tilby also began work on the second joint short animated film Wild Life, which has continued over the years. For the work on the film both moved from Montreal to Calgary. Wildlife was performed first time in 2011 and received as was the first collaboration for an Oscar nomination. In addition, the film for a Annie Award and a Genie Award nominated.
