Amanda Marshall

Amanda Marshall ( born August 29, 1972 in Toronto, Ontario ) is a Canadian pop musician.

Career

Amanda is the only child of Doug and Gencie Marshall and grew up in a multi-ethnic family, since her mother is from Trinidad. Showed early her musical talent, which is why parents already log on with three years at a special teaching program at the Conservatory in Toronto. There she received lessons on the piano and classical singing. Despite a great talent for classical music Amanda Marshall soon rose to jazz singing. In 1990 she met the guitarist Jeff Healey know at one of his concerts in Toronto, who encouraged her to participate in an open concert at which he accompanied with the guitar. Convinced of their talent, Healey invited the completely unknown teenager as a cantor for his upcoming tour. Within a few weeks turned Amanda Marshall together her first band and then accompanied Healey and later Tom Cochrane.

1991 Columbia Records offered her a record deal, but turned down the Marshall. It was not until 1994, she accepted an offer from Sony Records in 1995 and presented its first singles, where the end of the year was followed by the debut album Amanda Marshall. Right away you get with Let it Rain and Birmingham international top - ten hits. Within a year, she received the album in several countries, gold, platinum, and, in her native Canada sold for over a million records, even handed over a diamond record. Stylistically, the work was to settle Rock in the alternatives.

1999 their second album, Tuesday 's Child, which, although it was not quite as successful, but you still a sold-out Canada and European tour brought. On their third album, Everybody's got a story, which appeared in 2001, Marshall extended their style with elements of R & B, Pop, but also rock.
