Amanikhareqerem

Amanichareqerem was a Nubian king who probably governed in the first century. Besides his own name Amanichareqerem occupied by him and the throne name Nebmaatre.

General

Amanichareqerem was previously only known from a few objects, among which are two rams figures and the so-called " Omphalos of Napata ." However, recent findings show, however, that the ruler especially in Naqa ( Naga ) was building activity. From there comes a recently found Sandsteinmedallion and the Temple Naga 200 was built by him. The local reliefs are among the finest examples of Nubian art.

The ruler has been dated to the second century AD, but indicates the paleography of his inscriptions and the style of his temple in Naqa that he reigned shortly after Natakamani.
