Amaravati Buddhist Monastery

Amaravati is a Buddhist monastery and meditation center in Great Gaddesden, north of Berkhamsted ( Hertfordshire). It was founded in 1983 by the English Sangha Trust, together with Ajahn Sumedho, the abbot is there.

The facility was previously a school and previously a property of the army before it was bought from the County Council of Buckinghamshire.

The meditation begins each morning at 5:00 clock early. From 12:00 clock is no longer eaten. There are three - and ten-day retreats, but primarily the monastery is home to its residents.
