Amarillo Gorillas

The Amarillo Gorillas were an American ice hockey team from Amarillo, Texas. The team played from 2001 to 2010 in the Central Hockey League.

History

The Amarillo Gorillas were founded in 1996 under the name Amarillo Rattlers as a franchise of the Western Professional Hockey League, in which they were active until its dissolution following the 2000/ 01 season. After the merger of the WPHL with the Central Hockey League, the Rattlers this joined, in which she played a year under the old name, before they adopted their new name Amarillo Gorillas 2002. The greatest success of the team was to reach the second playoff round to the Miron Cup in season 2003/ 04 and 2004/05. After it always reached the play-offs of CHL in his first five seasons, Amarillo missed consecutively in 2008 and 2009 these two times.

The franchise was disbanded and replaced by a franchise of the U.S. Junior League North American Hockey League Following the 2009/10 season.
