Amberley, New Zealand

Amberley is a place in the Hurunui district in the Canterbury region of the South Island of New Zealand. It is located about 10 km south of Waipara and about 50 kilometers north of Christchurch, near the Pegasus Bay on the Pacific Ocean. The city was founded in 1876 and named after the village in Derbyshire England.

Amberley is the headquarters of the Hurunui District. State Highway 1 passes through the city, which is also connected to the rail of the Main North Line.

In census 2006 1.302 inhabitants were counted.
