Ambient pressure

At an ambient pressure means the total pressure acting on the outside of a material or system and thus strives same compression. This system may be a fault within a hydrostatic pressure field, so for example a submarine under water ( water pressure) or an aircraft in Earth's atmosphere (air pressure). Even ground pressure and dynamic pressure can be this total pressure units, but act contrary to the hydrostatic pressure is very local, such as the weight of a solid on a backing.

In contrast to this are pressures that prevail within the system and are directed outwards, so therefore counteract the external pressure. We call such a pressure as internal pressure. In the above examples would be the outward pressure of the back pressure within the body of the submarine, or of the cabin pressure of the aircraft.

Also in the thermodynamics of external pressure plays a role, as in interaction with the saturation vapor pressure, the internal pressure of the gas within a liquid or solid, is the existence of a boiling point or sublimation point is crucial and this also defines it.
