Ambitus (music)

With range or ambit is defined as the discrepancy between the highest and the lowest tone. This refers to:

  • In musical instruments and the singing voice of a particular singer on the area that can be played or sung (see voice ). Musical instruments have very different tonal ranges, by a single tone at the Triangle to the entire audible spectrum with the organ. Notation

For stringed instruments, the open strings are specified in the usual mood left first.
