Ambohimahavelona

Ambohimahavelona is a municipality and city in Madagascar on the right bank of the river Onilahy. It is located in the region Atsimo - Andrefana in the province of Toliara. The municipal area, in 2001 an estimated 13,000 residents.

In the city schools exist for the primary and secondary level. The majority of the population lives on the primary sector. Main cultivation of the crop is corn and rice, next to grow sugar cane and tomatoes. 15 % of the inhabitants are employed.

2009, a water supply was installed to enable the population better hygiene. From the Swiss Suisse solidarit'eau a 30- cubic-meter tank, four kilometers of water lines and a total of 16 laundry washing facilities were built with 93,000 Swiss francs budget. Can profit from currently 1350 people in two villages as well as three schools. Probably the system is extended to latrines and showers in the coming years. The municipality in the canton of Bern Münsingen since 1991 is already contributing to the financing of this and similar projects.
