Ambrogio Lorenzetti

Ambrogio Lorenzetti (* 1290 in Siena, ibid † 1348; partly Ambruogio Laurati ) was an Italian painter. Ambrogio Lorenzetti Pietro and his brother were important representatives of the Sienese school. Ambrogio painted mainly in the period from 1317 until his death altar paintings and frescoes. He became famous for his allegorical representation of Good and Bad Government in the Palazzo Pubblico, the town hall of Siena.

For European painting Lorenzetti's fresco cycle Good and bad government is a key work.
