Ambrose Cowley

William Ambrosia Cowley and William Ambrose Cowley was an English buccaneer (pirate) of the 17th century, who studied the Galápagos Islands during his circumnavigation of the globe and in 1684 published the first map. He named some islands for members of the British royal family or colleagues. In his diary he describes the discovery of the mythical Pepys Island, allegedly north of the Falkland Islands was located and a number of sailors continued to keep in the empty after nichtexistentem country out.
