Ambrosius Bosschaert

Ambrosius Bosschaert the Elder [ bɔsχa ɾt ː ] (* 1573 in Antwerp, † 1621 in The Hague) was a Flemish painter of the Dutch Golden Age. He was known primarily for its rich colors still life of flower bouquets, such as the flower vase made ​​around 1620 in a window niche.

Life and work

Bosschaert the Elder worked from 1588 in Antwerp and from 1593 to 1613 in Middelburg; later he worked in Utrecht (from 1616) and in Breda.

Bosschaert established the floral still life as a genre within the Dutch art. The accuracy of the representation and the balance in the same color Bosschaerts work which his contemporary Jan Brueghel the Elder.
