Ambulacraria

Bipinnarialarve a starfish.

The Ambulacraria or Coelomorpha are a senior -less taxon ( a kin group ), in which two strains of invertebrates are combined, the gill hole Animals ( Hemichrodata ) and echinoderms ( Echinodermata ). All Ambulacraria are marine animals that as larvae ( Tornaria and dipleurula ) planktonic ( floating in water) and as adult animals are benthic (living on the ground) are.

Features

The Ambulacraria as a common feature a threefold body and coelom ( body cavity ) ( Archimerie, Trimerie ): the prosoma with the Protocoel (upper portion of the coelom ), the mesosoma, with the Mesocoel ( middle portion of the coelom ) and the metasoma with the Metacoel ( rear portion of the coelom ). Mesosoma and metasoma are strongly modified in adult echinoderms.

The larvae of Ambulacraria - the Tornarialarven the gill hole animals and the Dipleurulalarven and derived larval types of echinoderm - have Neotorch and Archeotorch called eyelash strips around the mouth and anus. Other features include a ciliated Apikalorgan on Protocoel and numerous serotonin cells.
