Amdavad ni Gufa

Amdavad ni Gufa is an underground art gallery in Ahmedabad, India, which is also known under the name of Hussain - Doshi Gufa ni.

The gallery was designed by the architect Balkrishna Doshi Vithaldas to exhibit works of art Maqbool Fida Hussain of the artist. The gallery combines architecture and art in a unique way. The cavernous walls and tree-like columns support a roof of a plurality of interconnected domes that are adorned with a tile mosaic.

Etymology

The gallery is called gufa ( Gujarati for " cave "). Originally named Hussain - Doshi Gufa ni after the architect and the artist. Later the name of the city of Ahmedabad was included, which is colloquially called Amdavad.
