Amenia is a town in the United States, Dutchess County, New York. In a census of 2000 4048 inhabitants were counted.

The name derives from the Latin amoena from the " lovely location " means.

The Town of Amenia is located on the eastern border of the county. The city has rail connections to New York City via the Metro-North Railroad. The local train station is called Wassaic, named after the village of Wassaic, which is a part of Amenia.

Geography
