Ameren

Ameren is a US-based company with headquarters in St. Louis. The company is listed on the stock index S & P 500.

Ameren was created on 31 December 1997 by a merger of Missouri 's Union Electric Company and the Company Central Illinois Public Service Company. As a holding company include the following subsidiaries to Ameren:

  • AmerenUE, (formerly Union Electric Company, 1997)
  • AmerenCIPS, (formerly Central Illinois Public Service Company, 1997)
  • AmerenEnergy Resources, Holding Company, 2000 AmerenEnergy Marketing
  • AmerenEnergy Generating

Ameren operates among others, the nuclear power plant in Callaway Missouri. Furthermore, the operator of the Ameren Taum Sauk pumped storage plant whose upper reservoir on 14 December 2005 broke. AmerenUE also operates the dam Lake of the Ozarks in Missouri.
