American Alpine Journal

The American Alpine Journal is an annual journal, published by the American Alpine Club. The aim is to document special alpinist performance in the high mountain regions of the world; Subtitle: "The World's Most Significant Climbs ".

History

The journal was founded in 1929. Between 1957 and 1958, Francis P. Farquhar was the editor in chief. From 1960 headed H. Adams Carter, the compilation of annual output, under his leadership, the AAJ to one of the world's leading journals in the field of mountaineering. After the death of Carter Christian Beckwith took over from 1996 to 2001; and since 2002 directs John Harlin III, the editorial staff.

The focal points

Content, one concentrates mainly on the expedition climbing in the high mountains of the world, a particular focus on Asia ( Himalaya, Karakorum ), North America (Alaska Range) and South America ( Andes). Since 2007, all older articles from 1966 are available online.
