American Dental Association

The American Dental Association (ADA ) is the largest dental association in the U.S. and represents 157,000 20,000 dentists and dental students (as of 2013). Every year the association organizes its annual congress with an accompanying exhibition congress at different locations.

History

In 1859 founded 26 Dentists in Niagara Falls, New York, the first American dental professional association (ADA ). 1897 merged the ADA with the Southern Dental Association ( SDA) and formed the National Dental Association ( NDA). In 1922 it was renamed again in ADA.

Organization

The supreme organ of the ADA is the Delegate Assembly, consisting of 473 delegates. The delegates are appointed by 53 regional companies, five -governmental organizations and the American Student Dental Association, the Association of Zahnmedizinistudenten. The operating business is done by the Board of Trustees, which consists of the president, two vice-presidents and 17 other members.

Tasks

The association represents the interests of dentists and patients. It gives opinions on ethical issues and technical issues, learn to recognize the world. The ADA recognizes formally 9 subjects at: dentist in public health, endodontics, oral and maxillofacial pathology, oral and maxillofacial surgery, orthodontics, pediatric dentistry, periodontics, prosthodontics, and oral and maxillofacial radiology. It runs under the supervision of the United States Department of Education (Ministry of Education of the United States) the Admissions Committee for dentists who granted the license to practice, and the education and training committee, which awards the mentioned technical terms. It is dedicated to the prevention and this it maintains its own website Mouth Healthy.

Annual congresses

  • The 153rd Annual Session was held from 18 to 21 October 2012 at the Moscone North Convention Center in San Francisco. The accompanying exhibition "World Marketplace Exhibition" was carried out in parallel to the Congress in the exhibition halls of the Moscone Center.
  • The 154th Annual Session took place from October 31 to November 3, 2013 in New Orleans at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center.
  • The 155th Annual Session is Texas, held in San Antonio, from 9 to 14 October 2014.

ADA Seal

More than 300 oral health products, including toothpastes, dental floss, toothbrushes, mouthwashes, adhesives and chewing gum carry the ADA Seal of Acceptance, a quality seal that stands among consumers for safety and efficacy in general.

Dudley the Dinosaur

Dudley the Dinosaur ( design by Jon McClenahan ) has since 1991 been a mascot of the American Dental Association. Dudley is to motivate bilingual (English and Spanish ) children to brush your teeth.

The club is the monthly Journal of the American Dental Association, the ADA Guide to Dental Therapeutics, and the ADA News out.
