The English Coonhound is not recognized by the FCI breed of dog from the U.S., which is counted to the coonhounds. The breed is recognized by the UKC and guided by the AKC in the context of a possible recognition in the Miscellaneous Class.

The English Coonhound was bred in the 19th century in Virginia, Tennessee and Kentucky. It is smaller than the Black and Tan Coonhound, like this he is a hunting dog for coon hunting.

Although the name suggests otherwise could, he is a purely American breed. Its name suggests that his ancestors come from England. The dogs are large up to 68 cm. Their fur is typically short and hard, usually spotted red or blue, three -color with stippling. The ears hang down long and thin.
