American Handball Championship

The Pan-American Championship ( officially: Panamericano ) is a competition for indoor handball, which is from the Americas Handball Federation for men since 1977 at regular intervals, since 1994, held in even-numbered years. In the tournament of the Pan - Master is determined by the handball national teams of the American continent. In addition, the top three finishers qualify for the next World Handball Championship.

The first Pan - American Championship took place in 1979 in Mexico City, a total of the tournament has been held twelve times, most recently in 2010 in Santiago de Chile. The record winner with eight successes in series 1979-1998 is Cuba, the reigning Pan American champion Argentina.

The competition for women was introduced in 2003 and since then takes place in all odd-numbered years, ie in the same years as the World Cup.
