American Historical Association

The American Historical Association (AHA ), headquartered in Washington, DC is a scientific society founded in 1884 in the USA, which promotes research and teaching in the field of historical science. The 14,000 members of this organization include professors, historians, teachers and students. A distinction is the AHA as a national professional society of the Organization of American Historians, the historian summarizes the research on the United States.

History

The AHA has been recognized by decision of the U.S. Congress on January 4, 1889 as a corporation and published, among other things The American Historical Review, a historical scientific journal. The AHA has been held since 1886 in an unbroken succession Annual Meetings.
